Compliance: Why become Deaf friendly?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 23.5 million Americans have some degree of hearing impairment ranging from difficulty in hearing a conversation to total hearing loss. If your company does not provide a Deaf-Friendly environment, then you're in effect ignoring nearly 10% of the population.

Why target only 90% of the population? The 10% you've failed to target are often some of the most loyal customers. In addition, word spreads very rapidly among the deaf community when a quality business makes a sincere effort to become Deaf-Friendly. The deaf community will reward Deaf-Friendly organizations with their patronage over and over again.
